On Friday 31st October, the grandeur of St George’s Hall will take centre stage for a fabulous black tie ball in aid of raising money for Liverpool Unites, the official charity of the Daily Post and Liverpool ECHO.

Following the massive success of the Liverpool Unites: Concert for Rhys at the ECHO arena in August, the Halloween ball is aimed at local businesses.

An Italian Choir and a champagne reception will kick off the evening followed by a delicious three course dinner provided by Northwest award winning caterers, Carringtons, and an evening of surprises and full entertainment will follow. There is a very special guest appearance from the leading ex Atomic Kitten ‘Natasha Hamilton’, and performances from MD Productions and ‘The Band With No Name’ which all promises to produce a lively evening of entertainment. A charity auction with our surprise celebrity compere and exciting prizes will help to raise further funds for Liverpool Unites.

The Halloween Ball is ticket only and tables of ten are available but selling fast. Tickets are £1000 for a table. Please call 0151 522 9362 to book your tables and to find out further information.

Plus – Liverpool Chamber members will receive a 5% discount if they book a table.

Liverpool Chamber is happy to promote the work of its many charitable members. Here’s some info about Claire House.

Claire House Children’s Hospice opened its doors in 1999 to look after children with life-threatening, life-shortening conditions from Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man.

The hospice is named after Claire Cain who sadly passed away in July 1989 just before her 10th birthday – Claire’s parents then raised the funds to build the hospice. During Claire’s illness, her parents (Chris, a nurse and Bobby) faced the additional challenge of trying to maintain a stable family atmosphere for Claire’s two sisters and her brother. The hospital was supportive but there was little opportunity for the family who lived on the Wirral to be together, they could either stay at home with little or no support, or be at her hospital bedside.

Clatterbridge Cancer Research Trust and The Queen Hotel Chester are pleased to announce “A Night in Rome”, a prestigious and sensational evening ball which will raise thousands of pounds for the Wirral-based cancer research charity. The spectacular evening takes place on October 18.

This event will also launch the opening of the brand new “Kings at Queens” Suites at the hotel, a stunning development of 87 luxurious suites over seven floors.

Paul Feather, owner of the Feather’s Group of hotels has kindly agreed to fund the evening in aid of Clatterbridge Cancer Research Trust.

A Day In The Life – Liverpool’s Beatles Day 10 July 2008 July 10, 2008

Don’t forget, Beatlemaniacs, today is officially Beatles Day here in Liverpool.

The day will feature a host of events and activities celebrating The Lads and their music. Not least of all is the donning of comedy Beatles ‘mop-top’ wigs in the aid of charity.

Over 20,000 specially made Beatles-style mop-top are being sold around Merseyside (I think I’ve even seen them in Tesco!).  Following a day of celebrations all over the region, the spectacular climax will come in the shape of ‘Imagine – The Concert’ at the Summer Pops, hosted by Ricky Tomlinson. He will be joined by a host of artists young and old from around the country, all performing Beatles favourites at a packed Liverpool Arena!

The plan for Beatles Day is quite simply for Liverpudlians to go about their daily business as normal on July 10th, the only difference being that they wear Mop Top wigs and share their Beatles stories with the rest of the city!

Wigs will cost £5.00 – all profits go to Alder Hey Imagine Appeal and Liverpool Unites.

Cheques by post to be made payable to LCVS (Beatles Day) and posted to: ‘Beatles Day’, P.O. Box 14, Liverpool L69 7AA.

No news on the long overdue Echo & The Bunnymen day though…

We’re not nuts we know its May, but those guys over at L13 10K who organise the Santa Dash are joining forces with the Las Vegas Santa Run team.

On 11th July, they are holding a conference and need a place to hold it. They are looking for a small hotel venue (30 people) and rooms for delegates.

It would be fantastic to hold the first Santa Dash Conference in the City in ’08 as Liverpool are the official record holders for the event.  If you think you can help out, email membership@liverpoolchamber.org.uk
