brownWe love Glenn Brown. One of the stand-out artists of the ‘Sensation’ generation, he’s now got a mid-career retrospective going on at Tate Liverpool. Go and have your mind boggled.

To mark this occasion, local techno-gurus Glow New Media have made n online game based on his works.

It’s a digital version of those games where you have to switch the suares around to complete the image. Infuriating but addictive.

Play the game here.

facebook-logoAs a publicly acclaimed expert on web 2.0 and social networking (well, we get a mention in this Daily Post article), it would be remiss of us not to highlight this article we came across.

Ten Privacy Settings Every Facebook User Should Know is a great piece that looks at how you can still get the benefits of Facebook without sacrificing every aspect of your private life to the interwebs.

The article shows you how to:

  1. Use Your Friend Lists
  2. Remove Yourself From Facebook Search Results
  3. Remove Yourself From Google
  4. Avoid the Infamous Photo/Video Tag Mistake
  5. Protect Your Albums
  6. Prevent Stories From Showing Up in Your Friends’ News Feeds
  7. Protect Against Published Application Stories
  8. Make Your Contact Information Private
  9. Avoid Embarrassing Wall Posts
  10. Keep Your Friendships Private

All good, sound advice, and well worth following to make the experience safer and more enjoyable. Unless you don’t care who sees what, in which case we say, ‘go crazy!’

dragonsden_flyer_2009_finalThe BBC is calling for entries for their latest variant on the Dragon’s Den theme…

Harnessing the accessibility and reach of the internet, the ‘Online Dragon’ offers entrepreneurs from across the country the chance to make their business dreams come true.

Online Dragon is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas to two new ‘Dragons’ chosen for their business expertise, and also provides a platform for wider debate and discussion around these ideas before they appear in the online ‘Den.’

The investment will be limited to less than £50,000. We are interested in great ideas, which may range from innovative blue-sky thinking to investment-ready products. Please be aware that all applications must include a video pitch.

We’re now working on the new series and searching for business ideas, inventions or products with serious business potential that are investment ready and looking for funding.  I would be extremely grateful if you would pass on the attached information to clients who may be interested in applying to pitch for investment from the Dragons.

Online Dragons is a challenging place to pitch but it’s also a genuine business opportunity to secure investment.

Entrepreneurs wanting to apply can do so via email to dragonsden@bbc.co.uk or by visiting the website www.bbc.co.uk/dragonsden.
