What is SME Week

The first European SME Week, taking place from 6 to 14 May 2009, will promote entrepreneurship and inform entrepreneurs about support available for them at European, national and local level. This European campaign aims to make it easier for SMEs to find information, advice, support and ideas to help them develop their activities. It will offer excellent networking opportunities, the inspiration for cultivating a business, and will give access to local business support and guidance.

Enterprise Europe Network

The Enterprise Europe Network offers support information on legislation and advice to businesses across Europe and helps them make the most of the opportunities in the European Union. Our services are specifically designed for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) but are also available to all businesses, research centres and Universities across Europe. For more information formation contact 0845 00 66 88 or email een@businesslinknw.co.uk

Think small first

SMEs are the key driving force of the European economy and provide around 80% of the newly created jobs in Europe. The setting up of new companies, almost all of which are SMEs, generates 4.1 million jobs each year. The European SME Week will encourage and assist SMEs in reaching their full potential. It will also represent an opportunity to inspire up and-coming entrepreneurs to jump in and work towards making their goals a reality. The European SME Week is consequently targeted at existing SMEs and prospective entrepreneurs.

During SME Week 2009, a Breakfast Seminar will be hosted by the Enterprise Europe Network North West in Liverpool, on May 7th.
