coneThere will be road works on the southbound lane of the the Strand between 09:30 and 15:30 from 16 February until the end of May.

Due to lane restrictions, there will be some traffic delays during this period.  Pedestrian access will be maintained.  As part of the works new street lights will be installed on the southbound side which will replicate the new lighting outside Liverpool One.

Full details:

The City Council has recently received funding to complete some of the public realm works on the Strand between James Street and Chapel Street.  Unfortunately the majority of this work needs to be substantially completed before the end of April 2009 and therefore we will need to commence work on 16th February 2009.

The works include repaving on the kerbs and footway on the east side of the road (city side) and also to replace the street lighting to replicate the lighting recently installed along the Strand fronting Liverpool One.

In order that these works can be completed in the timescale we need to close one (nearside) lane southbound off peak (09:30 to 15:30) for approximately 15 weeks.  The length of the restriction will be in blocks between junctions and cones used to protect the works and work force will be removed from the highway each evening.

There will be a requirement for some weekend work also for the installation of lighting columns (although some of these may be installed during night shifts).  It is expected that 8 weekends may be necessary for these works.  We are suggesting that weekend working should commence at 07:00 until 15:00 particularly in locations where residential properties preclude working during the night.

The contractor for the works will be Aggregate Industries.
