Convention Centre Event A Success February 9, 2009

The Arena and Convention Centre (ACC) hosted a Liverpool Chamber business after hours networking event lastweek.

btconventionThe dockside arena, which celebrated its first anniversary this January, entertained guests in the galleria area in-between the main Echo Arena and the BT Convention Centre. There was a selection of drinks and canapés to compliment the informal networking event.

Jack Stopforth, chief executive of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce welcomed the guests and thanked the ACC for the ‘invaluable contribution’ it had made to the city’s resurgent economy.

Bob Prattey,, chief executive of ACC then gave a short presentation on the design and features of the arena and convention centre, and outlined its economic impact.

The ACC hosted 240 conferences and 94 arena events last year, which saw 60,000 business delegates and 500,000 event goers come through its doors. The Albert Dock reported a 50 per cent increase in footfall as a result of the arena and convention centre and Liverpool as a whole saw an estimated £200m uplift in spending thanks to delegates and other arena visitors.

Guests were then given a tour of the BT Convention Centre’s conference suites and boardrooms, as well as the 13,500 seat auditorium. The Echo Arena was busy with over 10,000 darts fans, with Sky TV broadcasting the event.
