Mersey Care NHS Trust Seeks Non-Executive Director November 5, 2008

Mersey Care NHS Trust have asked us to publicise their search for a non-executive director, so here goes:

Non Executive Director required – this is a chance to shape the NHS for the 21st Century

If you’ve gained senior level expertise in the private, public or voluntary sectors, we can offer an exceptional opportunity to put your talents to use.  You can make a positive difference to the lives of people in your community by becoming a Non-executive director of Mersey Care.  Mersey Care provides specialist mental health services to the people of Liverpool, Sefton and Kirkby.  We provide medium secure services for Merseyside and Cheshire, and high secure services for England and Wales.  Our annual budget is in excess of £200 million, and we employ over 4700 staff.

Essential expertise
Governance experience; experience of strategic planning; financial, risk and performance management within either the private or public sectors.

Desirable experience
Finance expertise gained at a senior level in a large and complex organisation, with a sound knowledge of financial and accounting practice with a good financial management and budgetary control;  OR  Marketing expertise, with a sound understanding of the importance of brand culture and conversant with current marketing techniques in a commercial world.

You will need to demonstrate a range of competencies required to contribute effectively at board level including strategic thinking, team working and excellent communication skills.

Closing date for applications is 5th December, 2008 and interviews will be held on 13th January 2009.  The appointment will be for up to four years.
