Quick! Get a rolled up newspaper!

So she’s arrived!

Crouching on the side of Concourse Tower is Liverpool’s latest resident, La Princess. She’s been created by La Machine to creep her way through the city over the coming weekend. We’ll be rushing up there later to gawk at her like slack-jawed yokels.

If you haven’t guessed what she is yet, where have you been? She’s been outed on Facebook, Flickr, Popbitch and, um,  here, and people in the street have been overheard discussing her.  Let’s just say if you need another hint, Orwell’s famous maxim from ‘Animal Farm’ didn’t go far enough…

IT’S A SPIDER!

That pic was lifted from the Facebook group. More pics over there.

The BBC has a detailed route and itinerary for La Princess here.

WHO WAS THE BRIGHT SPARK WHO THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE FUN NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SUFFER FROM ARACHNOPHOBIA SOMEONE COULD HAVE A HEART ATTACK I NEARLY DID AND ONLY SAW IT ON TV I FOR ONE WILL BE GIVING LIVERPOOL A WIDE BERTH THIS WEEKEND.

Good point well made, Francesca. Let’s hope no one gets too scared!

Why oh why a spider.A wonderful yellow lambanana come to life, or a liver bird would have been so much better because they are loved by most people whereas an awful lot of people (like me) have a phobia about spiders.I will still go and see it but am disappointed about the choice of creature which as far as I can see is not iconic and has nothing to do with Liverpool.A beatle would have been a better choice if it had to be a horible creepy crawly. However hope the project is a success.

Perhaps this is a common feeling? I’m not too hot about spiders myself, but she is pretty spectacular, it has to be said. Let’s hope she doesn’t giver birth to a brood of millions of tiny mechanical spiders that might run rampage through the city, like something out of Cloverfield!

I think La Princess is great, better than that SuperLambBanana???? Could’nt get my head round that one. I went to see it when they turned the lights on, and it did look amazing. If you dont like spiders, then dont go and see it, pretty simple to me.

Keep up the good work and its good to the city investing in something that actually moves and puts on a show.

Real spiders aren’t my fav but this is A) nothing like the type of thing that lurks in your bath and B) is utterly magnificant
