Members of Liverpool Luncheon Club this week enjoyed a traditional winter lunch of Cumberland sausages at 60 Hope Street after hearing about the latest news from one of Liverpool’s most venerable institutions, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Society.

Andrew Cornall, RLPO Executive Director talked about their ambitions to put the orchestra back on the international map by resuming touring, explaining that orchestra is ‘one of the city’s most mobile promotional tools.’ Andrew explained how the orchestra and choir are reinvigorated following the appointment of conductor, Vasily Petrenko.

Vasily described his pride and pleasure in working with the RLPO and his plans for 2008 and beyond. He explained that tickets are selling briskly for the current season. Highlights include Verdi’s Requiem at the Metropolitan Cathedral and the War Requiem at the Anglican Cathedral.

The next Lunch@Liverpool is on 6th February at Liverpool Arena and the speaker will be Bob Prattey, CEO of the Liverpool Arena & Convention Centre. For further information, call Sue Platt on 0151 227 1234.
