New Heys School, currently pioneering the Young Chamber programme, have a vacancy for a Business & Enterprise Co-ordinator.

As a member of the Leadership Team, the post holder will continue and capitalise on the current Business and Enterprise specialism, outlined in the school’s development plan.

This means they will work with colleagues from across the school to ensure work related learning and enterprise are features of teaching and learning within all departments.

As projects develop, the Co-ordinator will maintain relationships with employers supporting the school with work related learning and enterprise activities and to develop new contacts on behalf of the school as required

The school has five house business partners (Marriott Hotels, Bank of Scotland, New Mersey Retail Park, Scottish Power Learning and Jaguar) and this post requires the person to oversee the partnerships with the five house businesses and work closely with the New Heys House Business Coaches. There is a core programme of activities which each of the businesses undertakes both at primary and secondary level. The Co-ordinator will manage these programmes and look to develop these further with the coaches back in school.

Another important aspect to the role is the management of the Academy programmes at 6th form level. At the cutting edge of school & employer engagement, these programmes help to prepare students for the world of work. The B&E Co-ordinator will liaise with the trainers from each of the businesses with regards to training content and delivery, NVQ progress, achievements and progression following the Academies.

New Heys operates a successful Young Chamber and the post holder will work closely with these students to help them develop and manage a range of Enterprise activities within school. By liaising with Liverpool Chamber of Commerce the ideas will then be turned into reality in order to help the students maximise their potential.

The post is well suited to someone with a business background as it requires them to listen to what is needed from the school and seek out opportunities within the business community so that education and business can combine for the mutual benefit of both parties.
