Over 150 members of the construction industry and ancillary professions gathered in the city centre Marriott for a presentation from Merepark developers of the Central Village project, the retail, commercial, and hotel development  scheduled to start early next year in the vacant land at the rear of Central Station.

Introducing the speakers, Chamber Chief Executive, Jack Stopforth talked about how the Marriott, itself symbolised the regeneration of Liverpool and provided the catalyst for the renaissance in the city’s hotel industry.

Three speakers talked the audience through the large scale project; Richard Peel described the well publicised planning application, the aims of the mixed used development in being accessible throughout the daytime and into the evening. He also focused on the company’s design led ethos and aim to bring an international feel the city before handing over to architect, Stephen Ranking who described how the design fits into the historic area on Liverpool on the edge of the rope walks area. Phillip Lovell from Carillion then explained how the project would be competed to a high standard, safely and to meet the 30 month deadline.
